  5. USER INQUIRIES (IN)
  6.  
  7.       The Inquiry command has six options.
  8.       The most commonly used options display
  9.       the following information.
  10.          ATI4   Current settings
  11.          ATI5   NVRAM settings
  12.       I0The modem returns a product code.  If
  13.          you have a problem and call
  14.          USRobotics' Technical Support Depart
  15.          ment, you may be asked for this
  16.          product code.
  17.       I1The modem performs a checksum of its
  18.          read only memory (ROM) and returns
  19.          the result to the screen.  This
  20.          function is used only in factory
  21.          testing.  The modem should always
  22.          read the same number.
  23.       I2The modem performs a test of its
  24.          random access memory (RAM) and
  25.          returns either the OK (0) or ERROR
  26.          (4) result code, followed by OK when
  27.          the test is completed.  You may want
  28.          to use this command as a checkpoint
  29.          if the modem appears to be
  30.          malfunctioning.

  32.       I4The modem displays its current
  33.          configuration.  Figure 7.1 on the
  34.          following page is an example.

  54. S-REGISTER QUERY (SR?)

  56.       This command allows you to view the
  57.       contents of a particular S-Register, as
  58.       in the following example that requests
  59.       the contents of Register S0 ("On what
  60.       ring will the modem answer?").

  63. STORED PHONE NUMBER QUERY (&Z?)

  65.       At this command, the modem returns the
  66.       phone number stored in NVRAM, as in the
  67.       following example that includes a sample
  68.       modem response.

  74.       Sportster 14,400 modems provide four
  75.       Help screens:  summaries of the basic
  76.       AT command set, extended ampersand (&)
  77.       command set, Dial command options, and
  78.       S-Register functions.

  80. Stop/Restart Display
  81.  
  82.       The following command stops the display.
  83.       Hold down the Control key and type "S".
  84.              <Ctrl>-S
  85.       To restart the display, use the same
  86.       command or press <any key>.
  87. Cancel Display
  88.  
  89.       Either of the following commands cancels
  90.       the display.
  91.              <Ctrl>-C
  92.              <Ctrl>-K

  94. Basic Command Set ($)

  96.       At AT$, the Sportster 14,400 displays a
  97.       screen that shows a partial summary of
  98.       the command set.  A second screen, acti
  99.       vated by pressing any key, shows the
  100.       remaining commands.  The first screen
  101.       is shown in Figure 7.3.

  109.       At AT&$, the Sportster 14,400 displays a
  110.       screen that shows a partial summary of
  111.       the extended ampersand command set.  A
  112.       second screen, activated by pressing any
  113.       key, shows the remaining command set.
